Father’s Day Prayer
“God our father, we give you thanks and praise for fathers young and old. We pray for young fathers, newly embracing their vocation; may they find courage and perseverance to balance work, family and faith in joy and sacrifice. We pray for our own fathers around the world whose children are lost or suffering; may they know that the God of compassion walks with them in their sorrow. We pray for men who are not fathers but still mentor and guide us with fatherly love and advice. We remember fathers, grandfather, and great grandfathers who are no longer with us but who live forever in our memory and nourish us with their love. Amen”

PRAYER OF ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI: PRAYER FOR PEACE Lord, make me an instrument of your peace, Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy; O Divine Master, grant that I may seek not so much to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.
The Many Ways We Can Pray There is no wrong way to pray. It’s your personal conversation with God by Pablo Diaz. People pray in a variety of ways, reaching out beyond themselves to give thanks, ask for help, weep for loved ones, seek God’s presence. No matter what we are praying for or how we pray, there is no wrong way to do so. It’s our personal conversation with God. Mother Teresa said, “Prayer is simply talking to God. He speaks to us, we listen. We speak to him, he listens. A two way process: speaking and listening.” When we pray, it’s not only about telling God our needs but also our deepest yearnings and longing to connect with Him. The psalmist writes, “As a deer longs for flowing streams, so my soul longs for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God” (Psalm 42:1-2a). The main purpose of prayer is not to gain the answers to all questions, eliminate the unknown or make life easier but to speak with God and become closer to Him. And through conversations, whether they are communicated with words or actions, we discover the many blessings of God: strength, grace, empowerment, peace, patience, healing, wisdom and much more. Although we might feel helpless at times, we are not, because prayer gives us access to a greater power. Lord, thank you for the gift of prayer and its power in our lives.
