Steward of the Gospel  -  All parishioners are warmly invited to attend the next Renewal Parish Meeting on Monday 10th September 2018 in the church at 7pm. This will be an opportunity to discuss how we can help our priest and the parish by putting parishioners ideas for Renewal into action. A DAY OF REFLECTION & ENRICHMENT FOR READERS: As you know the Vicariate for Evangelisation are organising a Diocesan-wide day of Recollection and Enrichment for Readers planned for Saturday 20th October at The Becket Centre, Woodford Green.  The day will be led by Dr Marian Tolley of Shrewsbury Diocese (Marian has travelled throughout Britain running courses for Readers for many years; has a highly respected reputation for running work-shops in liturgical music; the training of deacons and for speaking on various topics relating to the liturgy).  It will cover the spiritual dimension of the ministry, including:  The Real Presence in the Word of God;  Relationship of the Liturgy of the Word to the Liturgy of the Eucharist;  Preparation;  Technical aspects/difficulties of reading the Scriptures as Proclamation;  Pointers to reading aloud;  Using a microphone and much more.

FEEDBACK ON MEETING 1ST AUG. organised after the stabbing of the young man in Tenby Court 23rd July: the format (group discussion) was to enable people to express their concerns, to talk to other residents as well as local police, local youth services, and people  from projects  supporting young people. This meant that both the stabbing and the later shooting of the same young man on 31st, and all that has been going on here, was not addressed directly. You can view a short video about the meeting on Stella Creasy’s FB page. Watch this space as we will be taking further concrete steps in this community. (For more info contact Christine D/Chris B.)

AN ANGEL ASKED THE RISEN JESUS, on his arrival in heaven, “Lord, who have you left behind to carry out the work?” And Jesus answered, “A little band of men and women who love me.” “But Lord, what if they fail when the trial comes, will all you have done be defeated?” ”Yes, ” Jesus replied, “if they fail, all I have done will be defeated.” The Angel persisted, “Is there nothing more?” “No.” said Jesus. “What then Lord?” asked the worried angel. “They will not be defeated. They will not fail,” was Jesus’ answer. –by Jack McArdle

EL SHADDAI (CATHOLIC CHARISMATIC GROUP). Rosary prayer, praise and worship, preaching the gospel of the Lord, every Saturday, from 1pm – 4pm. All welcome to join.

UNABLE TO MAKE IT TO MASS? The church offers a service called Mass Link.  At 6pm Sunday Mass, via Skype, we call people who want to listen to the Mass and broadcast the Mass to them over their phones. This service is available for anyone who can't make it to Mass if you are ill or housebound.  If you would like this service, please give your number to the Parish Office and we will ring you every Sunday at 6pm to listen in!
