SECOND COLLECTION NEXT WEEKEND IN ALL MASSES FOR CAFOD 6TH & 7TH OF OCTOBER. On Cafod Fast Day, 5th October we are invited you to share in the abundance that God has given us. We are asked to fast, pray and give to help people like Longora, who lives in a remote village in Uganda. The area is so hot and dry, that people used to struggle to get enough clean water to survive. Thanks to the generosity of parishioners in England and Wales, CAFOD has made sure Longora and her neighbours now have a reliable supply of clean, safe water. On Family Fast Day (Friday 5 October), CAFOD invites us to eat simply – perhaps having a bowl of soup instead of a meal – and give the money we save to help people like Longora. Please collect your Fast Day envelope from the church this week and give what you can.
ENTRY TO CATHOLIC SECONDARY SCHOOLS. Fr. Kevin will be offering Certificates of Catholic Practice on Thursday 18th October from 3.30pm-6pm in the Presbytery to parents of children who are presently in Year 6 and want their child in Catholic Secondary school from Sept 2019. Application forms are available at Saturday evening and Sunday Masses from Fr Kevin and should be returned by Monday 15th October to the Presbytery. When the Priest has evidence that the parent’s statement is true, he will present them with a “Certificate of Catholic Practice”. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS SIGNING IS FOR SECONDARY SCHOOLS ONLY AND APPLICATION FORMS IS NOT AVAILABLE IN THE PARISH OFFICE. Application for Reception and Nursery - dates will be announced after.
PARISH MEMBERSHIP. With the summer now behind us and schools reopened here in the parish we too are beginning a new term with a number of sacramental programmes getting under way. We are aware that some people have left the parish and the area while others have joined us. To those newly arrived we say welcome and wish you a peaceful time here. We hope and pray that your coming to St. Patricks will satisfy your need to have a meaningful relationship with God and help you to meet new friends. Do introduce yourself to Fr. Kevin and register with the Parish Secretary and make sure you are known in case you plan to have a child receive a sacrament or apply for a place in a Catholic school.

OUT OF THE MOUTHS OF GOD'S KIDS
A woman invited some people to dinner. At the table, she turned to her six-year-old daughter and said, "Would you like to say the blessing?"
"I wouldn't know what to say," the little girl replied.
"Just say what you hear Mommy say," the mother said.
The little girl bowed her head and said: "Dear Lord, why on earth did I invite all these people to dinner?" byCharles Laine Franklin
A priest was speaking to a group of Year 3 children about the resurrection of Jesus when one student asked, "What did Jesus say right after He came out of the grave?"
The priest explained that the Gospels do not tell us what He said.
The hand of one little girl shot up. "I know what He said: He said, 'Tah-dah!'"
