BISHOP THOMAS MCMAHON We are asked to remember Bishop Thomas this weekend as he prepares for his farewell Mass on Friday next. We are asked to pray for him and to add a little extra to our offertory donation towards a farewell gift for him.
Today (Nov 25th) is National Youth Sunday. We are asked to take a second collection for Brentwood Catholic Youth Service.
WALK WITH ME. The little booklet Walk With Me a journey of prayer for Advent and Christmastide is available in the bookshop at £1 each.
ALL NATIONS CAROL SERVICE on Sunday 30th December after the 6pm Mass. All language groups are invited to submit their carols before 15th December to Parish Office. Mince Pies and hot drinks will be available. See church noticeboard and flyers for more details.
Funerals:
There will be two requiem Masses tomorrow Monday Nov 26th.
10:00 am- Requiem Mass for late Daniel Reid.
11:30am-Requiem Mass for late Joan Redpath. Removal to the church will be at 7:00 pm on Sunday evening i.e. immediately after the 6 pm evening Mass. May they rest in peace with the Lord.
NOVEMBER DEAD LIST. During November we remember those who are no longer with us. We remember them and pray for them out of gratitude for all they did and were for us. We remember all those who down the years by their faith, their Christian witness, their heroic deeds of self-sacrifice have inspired countless others to give more of themselves in service to God and humanity. Envelopes are available for the names of our deceased loved ones. During the remainder of the month Masses will be offered on Thurs 29th Nov (9.30am) for those on our November list.
MASS LINK. The envelope collection for the parish Mass Link to date has raised £605.85. That is excellent support! The account is still ‘open’. May God reward you for your generosity.
BAPTISM. We plan to hold a Baptism ceremony on Sunday 6th January at 2.30pm. However there is NO Pre Baptism course planned for December so those who wish to have a Baptism in January should do the next Pre-Baptism course which is on Thursday 29th November at 6.30 in the Presbytery. This meeting is for parents only.
RECEPTION SCHOOL SIGNING: Fr John will be signing school application forms for reception on Monday 10th & Tuesday 11th December from 3.30pm to 7pm in the Presbytery. Let’s recall what you are doing. As parents you are applying to a Catholic school to accept your child into reception. Where the school has more applicants than places available, the school gives priority to practicing Catholics. This is estimated on your weekend Mass attendance so on the application form you state how often you attend Church: weekly/fortnightly etc. The priest is asked to verify your statement. In this parish there is a well established practice of how to do this. The last thing the priest wants is an argument with a parent over their Christian practice.
CAR PARKING ON THE ROAD IN FRONT OF THE CHURCH IS NOT ALLOWED ON THE SUNDAYS OF DECEMBER BEFORE CHRISTMAS.
CONFIRMATION. Registration forms are available in the porch. Candidates should be in Year 10 or above.
Minutes of our recent Parish Council Meeting are on the notice board.
