PRAYER OF ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI: PRAYER FOR PEACE  Lord, make me an instrument of your peace, Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy; O Divine Master, grant that I may seek not so much to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.

Renewal and the Restructuring of our diocese

Stewards of the Gospel: Up-Date on the Process

Steward of the Gospel  -  All parishioners are warmly invited to attend the next Renewal Parish Meeting on Monday 10th September 2018 in the church at 7pm. This will be an opportunity to discuss how we can help our priest and the parish by putting parishioners ideas for Renewal into action. In preparation for this meeting, a copy of the Renewal Action Plan Targets for Working Party Groups - 2018 & Beyond is now available on the noticeboard inside the porch. Please take a look and write your name in the space provided on the form to show which Working Party you would like to part of at the Parish Renewal meeting.

Steward of the Gospel - Feedback from the Diocese in response to Parishes replies to the First Proposal for Renewal and Restructuring of our Diocese. This document is now available on the porch noticeboard, for you to read. Whilst it is a lengthy document, you are encouraged to read it, as it does address the concerns which parishioners raised at our parish meeting in January this year. The Diocese will publish their Vision document, in which Bishop Alan will outline his decisions about the future shape of our diocese in November. During 2019, the Diocese will start the implementation phase of this process and work towards the vision as set out.

A missionary once asked a new convert, “Pablo, if you had a hundred sheep, would you give fifty of them to the Lord’s work?”

He answered, “You know I would gladly give them.”

“Pablo, if you had fifty cows, would you give twenty-five to the Lord’s work?”

“Yes, you know I would be more than happy to do that.”

Again the missionary asked, “Pablo, if you had two pigs, would you give one of them to the Lord’s work?”

“That’s not fair,” Pablo replied. “You know I have two pigs.”

Many people are extremely generous in theory but not in practice. They say, “If I only had a million dollars, I would give half of it away.” This is simply not true. If we aren’t faithfully giving even ten percent of our money right now, we wouldn’t give away half a million dollars if we had it. (Kent Crockett, Making Today Count for Eternity, Sisters, OR: Multnomah Publishers, 2001, p. 151-152)
