THE NATIVITY OF ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST

              

THANK YOU! Second Collection for DAY FOR LIFE last weekend amounted to £474.81.  Thank you all for your generosity.

 

PETER’S PENCE SECOND COLLECTION NEXT WEEKEND at all Masses.  Each year, a special charitable collection is solicited from Catholics throughout the Church.  Contributions are intended for use by the Pope in his worldwide humanitarian efforts. Victims from natural disasters, wars, diseases and other catastrophic events receive assistance from Peter’s Pence. Economically strapped dioceses and churches, hospitals and Catholic education programs are also among recipients of these funds. 

 

FINANCE COMMITTEE MEETING. We are sorry for the short notice but there will be a finance meeting in the presbytery for committee members on Monday 25th June at 12.30pm. All members are asked to attend.

 

OUR LADY OF THE ROSARY AND ST PATRICK’S FAITH IN ACTION invites you to “for heaven’s cake!” Please join us in this occasion to spend time together and sample homemade cakes. July 1, 2018 after the 11:30am mass.  Donations of homemade cakes can be brought into the presbitery from 11am. Volunteers are very welcome to give a hand on the day.

 

FRIDAY 29TH JUNE HOLY DAY OF OBLIGATION. The solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul is a liturgical feast in honour of the martyrdom in Rome of the apostles Saint Peter and Saint Paul. Mass on this day will be at 9.30am and 7.30pm.       

 

PRE-BAPTISM MEETING is on Friday 13th of July at 7.30pm in the Presbytery.  Please note this meeting is for ADULTS ONLY. Please call the Parish Office if you would like to attend or send as an email with your details.

FORGIVENESS & RECONCILIATION is the theme for this year’s WIN Forest Interfaith Pilgrimage. We’ll be stopping off at 8 places of worship in the Leyton end of the borough. Date: 30th June: 9 am start: Whipps X Hospital prayer space; end: the Gurdwara in Francis Road. Join us for the whole or part, of the day at any of the pilgrim halts on the route. THE ST JOHN BOSCO CHILDRENS SUMMER CAMP at Aldham Essex. This is an activities camp with a Catholic ethos. It is for children aged 8 to 13 and costs £145 per week. TEA ON THE LAWN IS BACK! Parishioners are welcome to have tea, coffee, juice with biscuits on the lawn after 9am Mass.  Volunteers are neededROTA AVAILABLE ON THE NOTICEBOARD.

When entering the church PLEASE turn off your mobile phone.  Chewing gum and eating sweets, biscuits etc in Church?  It’s a no no. Please!

LEGION OF MARY meetings are held each Thursday after Mass at 10:15 am.  If anyone is interested in what we do you are very welcome to attend. For more information come and meet us.

 

DIVINE MERCY- every Wednesday at 4pm in the Church.

 

EL SHADDAI (CATHOLIC CHARISMATIC GROUP). Rosary prayer, praise and worship, preaching the gospel of the Lord, every Saturday, from 1pm – 4pm. All welcome to join.

 

UNABLE TO MAKE IT TO MASS? The church offers a service called Mass Link.  At 6pm Sunday Mass, via Skype, we call people who want to listen to the Mass and broadcast the Mass to them over their phones. This service is available for anyone who can't make it to Mass if you are ill or housebound.  If you would like this service, please give your number to the Parish Office and we will ring you every Sunday at 6pm to listen in!

Dear Lord, help me iron out all the wrinkles of prejudice I have collected through the years so that I may see the beauty in others. Wednesday.  Mending Day.  O God, help me mend my ways so I will not set a bad example for others.  Thursday.  Cleaning Day.  Lord Jesus, help me to dust out all the many faults I have been hiding in the secret corners of my heart.  Friday.  Shopping Day.  O God, give me the grace to shop wisely so I may purchase eternal happiness for myself and all others in need of love.Saturday.  Cooking Day.  Help me, my Saviour, to brew a big kettle of brotherly love and serve it with clean, sweet bread of human kindness.Sunday.  The Lord's Day.  O God, I have prepared my house for You.
