MARRIAGE IN CHURCH. Couples thinking of getting married later this year are asked to register in good time. Make an appointment to see Fr. Kevin and he will help you from there. Couples planning to marry in another parish or even outside the country should realise that the process properly begins here.
PARISH MEMBERSHIP. We are aware that some people have left the parish and while others have joined us. To those newly arrived we say welcome and wish you a peaceful time here. We hope and pray that your coming to St. Patricks will satisfy your need to have a meaningful relationship with God and help you to meet new friends. Do introduce yourself to Fr. Kevin and register with the Parish Secretary and make sure you are known in case you plan to have a child receive a sacrament or apply for a place in a Catholic school.

There is still no news of his whereabouts. If you don’t remember the Angelus a prayer card is available in the Porch. Thank you for your support.
HOW WOULD YOU COPE IF YOU HAD NO ELECTRICITY FOR A SHORT WHILE? In the rare event of a power cut, you can get help from UK Power Networks. This company looks after the electricity network in your parish (no matter who you pay your energy bill to) and also runs a free Priority Services Register for people with medical needs, families with babies and the elderly. Being on the Register gives you free access during a power cut, a home visit by our staff or the British Red Cross and a 24 hours priority phone number. To join the Priority Services Register for extra help during a power cut call: 0800 169 9970,

THE BAPTISM OF THE LORD. Today the Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Baptism of Our Lord. This brings to an end the season of Christmas. The Church recalls Our Lord's second manifestation or epiphany which occurred on the occasion of His baptism in the Jordan. Jesus descended into the River to sanctify its waters and to give them the power to beget sons of God. The event takes on the importance of a second creation in which the entire Trinity intervenes.
FUNNY STORY: A little boy was listening to a long and excessively boring sermon in church. Suddenly the red sanctuary lamp caught his eye. Tugging his father's sleeve, he said, "Daddy, when the light turns green can we go?"
PRAYER OF ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI: PRAYER FOR PEACE Lord, make me an instrument of your peace, Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy; O Divine Master, grant that I may seek not so much to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.
