PRAYER OF ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI: PRAYER FOR PEACE  Lord, make me an instrument of your peace, Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy; O Divine Master, grant that I may seek not so much to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.

Renewal and the Restructuring of our diocese

Stewards of the Gospel: Up-Date on the Process

Steward of the Gospel  -  All parishioners are warmly invited to attend the next Renewal Parish Meeting on Monday 10th September 2018 in the church at 7pm. This will be an opportunity to discuss how we can help our priest and the parish by putting parishioners ideas for Renewal into action. In preparation for this meeting, a copy of the Renewal Action Plan Targets for Working Party Groups - 2018 & Beyond is now available on the noticeboard inside the porch. Please take a look and write your name in the space provided on the form to show which Working Party you would like to part of at the Parish Renewal meeting. Steward of the Gospel - Feedback from the Diocese in response to Parishes replies to the First Proposal for Renewal and Restructuring of our Diocese. This document is now available on the porch noticeboard, for you to read. Whilst it is a lengthy document, you are encouraged to read it, as it does address the concerns which parishioners raised at our parish meeting in January this year. The Diocese will publish their Vision document, in which Bishop Alan will outline his decisions about the future shape of our diocese in November. During 2019, the Diocese will start the implementation phase of this process and work towards the vision as set out.

Thank  you  also to Natalia from the Polish community who was  ready to sing but was  prevented from participating when she  was struck down  by flu.

UNABLE TO MAKE IT TO MASS? The church offers a service called Mass Link.  At 6pm Sunday Mass, via Skype, we call people who want to listen to the Mass and broadcast the Mass to them over their phones. This service is available for anyone who can't make it to Mass if you are ill or housebound.  If you would like this service, please give your number to the Parish Office and we will ring you every Sunday at 6pm to listen in!

FEEDBACK ON MEETING 1ST AUG. organised after the stabbing of the young  man in Tenby Court 23rd July: the format (group discussion) was  to enable people  to express  their concerns, to talk to  other residents as  well  as local police, local  youth services, and  people  from projects  supporting young people. This  meant that both the stabbing  and the  later shooting of the same young man on 31st and all  that has been  going  on  here was not addressed directly. You can  view a  short video about the meeting on Stella  Creasy’s  FB page. Watch this space as we will  be taking  concrete steps  in this  community. (For more info contact Christine D/Chris B.)

AN ANGEL ASKED THE RISEN JESUS, on his arrival in heaven, “Lord, who have you left behind to carry out the work?” And Jesus answered, “A little band of men and women who love me.” “But Lord, what if they fail when the trial comes, will all you have done be defeated?” ”Yes, ” Jesus replied, “if they fail, all I have done will be defeated.” The Angel persisted, “Is there nothing more?” “No.” said Jesus. “What then Lord?” asked the worried angel. “They will not be defeated. They will not fail,” was Jesus’ answer. –by Jack McArdle
