CAFOD Harvest Fast Day: CAFOD second collection will be today at all Masses. This Harvest Fast Day, we are standing with the farmers of El Salvador as they work to sustain their families with good crops and harvests. With your help, CAFOD is giving them fruit trees, training, and strong seeds. We will be having a Second Collection to help this worthwhile cause and if you wish to help please pick up a Fast Day envelope and place it in the 2ndCollection today.


ENTRY TO CATHOLIC SECONDARY SCHOOLSFr. Kevin will be distributing Certificates of Catholic Practice on Thursday 19th October from 3.30pm-6pm

in the Presbytery to parents of children who are presently in Year 6 and want their child in Catholic Secondary school from Sept 2018.  Application forms are available at all Masses from the Priests and should be returned on Monday 16th October to the Presbytery. When the Priest has evidence that the parent’s statement is true, he will present them with a “Certificate of Catholic Practice”.  PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS SIGNING IS FOR SECONDARY SCHOOLS ONLY.


WE WILL BE CELEBRATING OUR PARISH FEAST DAY ON SATURDAY 14th OCTOBER with a social event in the Parish Hall. All are invited to the celebration. A list for refreshments and for volunteers has been placed on the notice board where you can indicate what you’ll be bringing and how you can help. NIGHTSHELTER TRAINING.   For anyone interested in volunteering at this winter's night shelters (January 2018) for homeless people in Waltham Forest, this is recommended. Saturday 14th Oct 017, at St Mary's Welcome Centre E17 (10:00am - 2:30pm)


CONFIRMATION 2017-2018: Application forms are now available in the church porch for enrolment into the Confirmation program 2017-2018. This program is open to youth in Year 10 and above who wish to make their confirmation here in St Patricks. Completed forms must be brought back to the Presbytery no later than Sunday 5th November   and will only be accepted with a copy of the candidate’s baptismal certificate attached.


RECOGNITION OF EXCEPTIONAL EDUCATIONAL ACHIEVEMENTS AT ST PATRICK’S.  St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School has been recognised in the Schools for Success Awards for the exceptional progress its pupils make. This award recognised St Patrick’s achievements in 2015-2016 academic year. Our results improved even further last year, placing us in the top 5% of school in the country by both children’s progress and the levels of attainment by the end of KS2.  (Please see church noticeboard).



HOLY ROSARYThe month of October is dedicated to the Holy Rosary therefore Mrs Folan will be leading the Rosary in the St Patrick’s School library throughout this special month. The start date is October 5th at 8:30 am and will continue until Friday October 27th. Please come through the Year 5 entrance to access the library. All are very welcome.


ST. PATRICK SCHOOL WOULD LIKE YOUR HELP.  Can you spare a morning or afternoon each week to join the school Reading Volunteers?  We are looking to expand our team of volunteers to spend time exploring and reading books, as many children would benefit from more time reading with an adult.   Interested in sharing your love of reading?   Request forms can be found at the back of the church.  Please return to the school by 22nd September 2017.  Thanking you in advance.

THE ROYAL SCHOOL OF CHURCH MUSIC CHORAL FESTIVAL will take place this year in Brentwood Cathedral on 21st October, and will celebrate the Centenary of Brentwood Diocese.     All singers are invited to take part.    The Festival will take form of a workshop starting at 10 a.m. to prepare the music which will be used in the Centenary Celebration Service at 4 p.m. in the afternoon.    The specially chosen music for the occasion is all contained in a book. RSCM-EEL ANNUAL CHORAL FESTIVAL 2017. This year our Festival will be a very special occasion celebrating the Centenary of the Diocese of Brentwood. It will be held in the beautiful setting of Brentwood Cathedral on Saturday, 21st October, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. with the Festival Thanksgiving Service at 4 p.m. The service will be conducted by Andrew Wright, Master of Music at Brentwood Cathedral.   We invite all singers to join us for a memorable and enjoyable day of singing finishing with our Thanksgiving Service. Individual singers are warmly welcomed, as are members of all choirs, robed or unrobed. The choirs of Chelmsford and Brentwood Cathedrals will be joining us for the Service. The music this year has been specially chosen and is included in a booklet which has been printed for us by the Royal School of Church Music. UNABLE TO MAKE IT TO MASS? The church offers a service called Mass Link.  At 6pm Sunday Mass, via Skype, we call people who want to listen to the Mass and broadcast the Mass to them over their phones. This service is available for anyone who can't make it to Mass if you are ill or housebound.  If you would like this service, please give your number to the Parish Office and we will ring you every Sunday at 6pm to listen in!


Stewards of the Gospel Brentwood Diocese

The next Steward of the Gospel Steering Group meeting will take place in the Presbytery on Tuesday 10 October 2017 at 7.00PM. Parishioners are encouraged to listen to the interviews with Bishop Alan on BBC Essex with regards to the Renewal and Restructuring Process of the Diocese


Catechist Training Day – 4th November 2017.  All Confirmation and First Holy Communion Catechists are warmly invited to attend a Catechist Training Day on Saturday 4th November 2017 at Sacred Heart of Mary School in Upminster, running from 10:30am until approx 3:30pm.
