DIOCESE OF BRENTWOOD. Do you support Catholic schools and the right of Catholics to send their children to them? Then we need you to make your voice heard. The Government is making a critical decision on whether to overturn the admissions cap which prevents Catholic schools from allowing all Catholic pupils attend. They have acknowledged that this policy discriminates against Catholics and promised to abandon it, now we need to tell them not to u-turn on their promise to Catholics. Visit  or research for “Catholic Education” in your search engine to write to the Government and urge them to drop their policy which bans new Catholic schools.

NIGHTSHELTER 2018.The rota is now up for those who want to volunteer to do the sleepover with the homeless. We need three volunteers every Friday & It is important that we have at least one male. GOODBYE WALSINGHAM HOUSE, CANVEY ISLAND AND THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES! The house will be open from 12-4pm and all are warmly invited to attend.

PLEASE HELP.  Walsingham House at Abbotswick Funding Appeal: Target £430,000. Each year, over 5,000 young people from our schools and parishes enjoy a retreat with the Walsingham House Team. In January 2018 this work is moving to Abbotswick, a beautiful house near Brentwood, set in 14 acres of grounds. In school holidays, Abbotswick will also continue to be used by parish groups seeking a time of retreat, resting with the Lord. However, Abbotswick is in need of a significant refurbishment, and we seek your help.  Please support it as generously as you can; in the words of Bishop Alan “This project builds a prayerful and inspiring future for the young people of the Diocese.” Thank you.

DIVINE MERCY- every Wednesday at 4pm in the Church.

LEGION OF MARY meeting will be held in the church on Thursdays after Mass at 10:15 am.  If anyone is interested they are welcome to attend.

RED MISSIO BOX.  Please return all your red boxes to the presbytery.  Thank you all for the continuing support for this good cause.  ~ Dolly.

UNABLE TO MAKE IT TO MASS? The church offers a service called Mass Link.  At 6pm Sunday Mass, via Skype, we call people who want to listen to the Mass and broadcast the Mass to them over their phones. This service is available for anyone who can't make it to Mass if you are ill or housebound.  If you would like this service, please give your number to the Parish Office and we will ring you every Sunday at 6pm to listen in!

The First Formal Proposal for the Renewal and Restructuring

Of Our Diocese is now on the Diocesan website Hard copies are available from the parish office for parishioners who do not have access to the website. Bishop Alan invites all of us TO READ IT, PRAY ABOUT IT, AND DISCUSS IT WITHIN OUR PARISH and then with our neighbours.Meetings for discussion will be arranged in Mid - January 2018 and Feedback submitted to the diocesan office before 24 February2018. An introductory message from BISHOP ALAN is also posted on the website.

LIVE SIMPLY.  As a parish we have started to reduce our energy consumption by switching to LED light bulbs where practicable. This is a no brainer - not only does it save us money, but more importantly helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This helps stem the inexorable increase in global temperatures and the misery that causes through flooding, desertification and ultimately mass migration, starvation, disease and death .Swapping out lightbulbs is one thing - but there are many ways we can all help eg by reducing our time in hot showers, turning off electrical appliances when not in use, insulating lofts - often free of charge - and turning down our thermostats a degree. Please discuss in your families how you can do your bit to reduce energy consumption.

PROPHECIES The first Sunday in Advent focuses on the prophecies of the Bible describing the coming of Christ. Prophecies prepared, taught, warned and encouraged the people about God, His ways, and His plans.  This week we will look at daily mass  how over 2,700 years ago, God revealed His plan to His people. 2,100 years ago, He fulfilled His plan by sending His Son, Jesus and now in the 21st century we are anticipating the fulfilment of the final prophecies describing His returnBy Lisa Robertson
