For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.

THANK YOU GOD.  Thank you God, for all I have to do today. Thank you God, for this sink of dirty dishes, it shows we have plenty to eat. Thank you God, for this pile of dirty, stinky, laundry, it shows we have plenty of clothes to wear. Thank you God, for those unmade beds in there, they were warm and so comfortable last night and I know there are many who have no beds. Thank you God, for this bathroom complete with all the spattered mirror, soggy grimy towels and dirty commode. They are so convenient. Thank you God, for this finger-smudged refrigerator that needs defrosting, It is full of cold drinks and enough left overs for two or three meals. Thank you God, for this oven that absolutely must cleaned today, it has baked so many things over the years. The whole family is grateful for that grass that needs mowing, the lawn that will need raking, we all enjoy the garden. Thank you God, even for that slamming door, my kids are healthy and able to run and play. Lord the presence of all these chores awaiting me says you have richly blessed my family.  I shall do them all cheerfully and I shall do them gratefully. Amen –Author unknown-

Like a Tree "Planted by the Waters" by Samuel Mills.  Are you planted by the waters? Are you trusting Jesus in every area of your life?  Some years ago, our house developed a major water blockage and I was using a water hose in a desperate attempt to un-stop the main drain. To say that I, and everything around me, was completely soaked would not be sufficient. As might be expected the phone rang, and with the gushing water-hose in one hand I answered the phone with the other; without even saying "hello" a voice on the other end blurted out, "And he shall be like a tree planted by the water!" God definitely has a sense of humour! My Mother, who had no idea what I was doing at the time, was quoting what has become one of my favourite Scriptures. "But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit." Jer 17:7-8 (NIV) Years later, in the midst of my morning devotion, I sensed the Holy Spirit ask, "Do you trust me in every area of your life?" Again the Scripture in Jer 17:7 came to mind. I knew this Scripture by heart, but this time it had a much deeper message. Perhaps for the first time I realized that God was describing a lifestyle that is based upon complete trust and confidence in Him. He was asking, "Do you trust Me in every area of your life, for anything you may encounter?" So I ask, are you trusting in Jesus for all your needs, in every area of your life? There is confidence in knowing that He will be with you in every situation, and that He promises to never leave or abandon you. (Heb 13:5) If you will trust in the Lord He will be there to help with decisions, temptations, illness, social situations, and whatever you may encounter. You will find renewed trust, hope, and a deeper walk with Him. In good times, tough times, or in a year of drought, you can be like the tree by the waters that does not fear or worry; whose leaves are always green and never fails to bear fruit. When your trust and confidence is in the Lord, you are blessed. It's His promise!

EVERYDAY BLESSINGS - How to realize that there are more blessings in our lives than trials, more positive moments than negative by Pablo Diaz.  As humans, we tend to dwell on the hardships, struggles and setbacks we face rather than the everyday blessings. This is why we must pause to reflect on the goodness and blessings of God. Focusing on everyday blessings doesn’t negate our struggles, but it can help us put things into perspective and give us the courage to move forward. When we do this, we discover that our lives consist of more positive moments than negative, more blessings than trials.  Let us begin by taking time to reflect on the blessings of summer. Days are longer, warmer and brighter. We can swim at the beach, take long walks without fighting the cold and much more. It’s a great time to enjoy being outdoors with those we love dearly. Myself, I enjoy playing tennis outside rather than inside. For me, this is a blessing.  We must also stop to reflect on those who are important to us, they are each a blessing in our lives—family members, friends, neighbours, co-workers, church family and even those who provide a service to us such as doctors, nurses, police and so forth. Life without them wouldn’t be the same. Humans were created to be social, not to go through life alone.  Most of all, we must remember to be thankful for God’s presence in our lives. No matter what problem we face, we are never alone. He is with us every second of every day.   I encourage you to write a list of everyday blessings in your life. Put it in a place where you can see it each day, to serve as a reminder of all the good in your life. And keep adding to it. When stress, anxiety or sorrow strikes, we have a tendency to focus only on what is causing these emotions rather than the good that is still in our lives.  But if we intentionally pause each day to reflect on our blessings—especially the goodness, mercy, grace and kindness of God—our mood, attitude and perspective will change for the better. Every day with God is a good day.  Lord, thank you for the many blessings in our lives, especially Your presence. Help us to be mindful of them.
