FOURTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
THANK YOU! The second collection for HOMELESS SUNDAY last weekend was £1,167.29. This was divided between Caritas Anchor House and Christian Kitchen. May God bless you all with your generosity.
Many thanks for your generous donations to the Christian Kitchen at last weekend’s second collection. As always the parishioners of St Patrick’s have shown great support and generosity. The total raised - £583 – will be put to good use to help homeless and vulnerable people in the local area. Steve Kearns.
NURSERY SIGNING. Fr. Kevin will be offering Certificates of Catholic Practice on Thursday 2nd February from 3.30 – 6pm in the Presbytery. Practice is estimated on your weekend Mass attendance. When the Priest has evidence that the Parent’s statement is true he will present them with a “Certificate of Catholic Practice”. APPLICATION FORMS WILL ONLY BE GIVEN AFTER MASS THIS WEEKEND AND NOT FROM THE PARISH OFFICE. Completed forms must be RETURNED back before Sunday 29th January.
Saturday 11th February- Healing mass with anointing of the sick at 10am All welcome. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place for
1 hour after Mass to pray for our Diocese in its 100th year.
We warmly welcome Fr. Angelo Lafferty SMA to our parish. Fr. Angelo will be with us while Fr. Gus recuperates.
FAITH IN ACTION. We would like to start by thanking you for supporting our Live Simply lunch last November. Delicious soup was provided and £80 was donated to Christian Kitchen. The team has been working to implement actions that will help us all live simply, sustainably and in solidarity. Last year we had a Walk to Mass Sunday, stopped purchasing disposables and switched to eco detergents and fair trade products, had a water butt installed to sustain the new vegetable patch. On the evening of Friday February 10th CAFOD will send out 2 assessors to meet us. This will hopefully set our parish up for receiving our Live Simply award in March. Our next meeting is Monday January 30th on 7.30pm. Thanks again for your support.
Diocese of Brentwood Centenary Celebration - All parishes in the Diocese have been invited to take part in this event at the Catholic Shrine in Walsingham on Saturday 22nd July 2017. Our parish would like to arrange a coach, so if you are interested in going please put your name on the list on the notice board as soon as possible. Further details will become available once we know how many people are interested in going.
FRIDAY NIGHT SLEEP OVER FOR HOMELESS Our doors are now open once again to host the homeless, from Friday the 6th of January. We will be looking for three volunteers, every Friday until the end of March, preferably including at least one male, to keep an eye on our guests. A rota is now available in the porch. Please could you leave your name & telephone number, if you are able to volunteer. If you haven't volunteered before and you seem interested, you can call Ann Shean on 07875658086 who will be happy to explain the set up to you.
St Patrick’s Primary School are looking for someone to assist in the school library while the children choose their books each week. We are looking for someone who is passionate about reading and can convey the love for books to our children. We need someone who can inspire and enthuse children to explore the world of books . If you can commit to give your time on Mon-Fr 12:00-1:00 and are willing to share your love for reading, than please contact the school office at 02085094321 and arrange a meeting with Catherine Culbert who will be able to tell you more about the role. We look forward to hearing from you.

PRAYER OF ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI: PRAYER FOR PEACE Lord, make me an instrument of your peace, Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy; O Divine Master, grant that I may seek not so much to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.
Serenity Prayer. God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time; enjoying one moment at a time;
accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; that I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him forever in the next. Amen.
