FRIDAY NIGHT SLEEP OVER FOR HOMELESS Our doors are now open once again to host the homeless, from Friday the 6th of January.   We will be looking for three volunteers, every Friday until the end of March, preferably including at least one male, to keep an eye on our guests.  A rota is now available in the porch. Please could you leave your name & telephone number, if you are able to volunteer.   If you haven't volunteered before and you seem interested, you can call Ann Shean on 07875658086 who will be happy to explain the set up to you.

Steward of The Gospel Parish Questionnaire

The deadline for the completion of the Parish Questionnaire has now been postponed to allow parishes which have fallen behind to catch up. The new deadline has been set for Easter 2017. In the new year a short survey will be conducted after all masses for one weekend. Open meetings will be arranged to discuss and complete the full questionnaire. Please continue to prayerfully consider the questions in leaflet handed out in August 2016 and make your views known to your Steward of the Gospel or your Parish Priest. Please also pray for your Steward of the Gospel and the success of the initiative. The Steward of Gospel Prayer can be found at end of your leaflet. All those parishioners who were not in the parish in August can obtain a leaflet from the repository.

The Steward of the Gospel would like to thank all those groups who have so diligently and prayerfully completed their questionnaires.  Please continue to keep us in your prayers.  Further information will be published in the bulletin as it become available. Your Steward of the Gospel – Marcia Bryan

FAITH IN ACTION.  We would like to start by thanking you for supporting our Live Simply lunch last November. Delicious soup was provided and £80 was donated to Christian Kitchen. The team has been working to implement actions that will help us all live simply, sustainably and in solidarity.  Last year we had a Walk to Mass Sunday, stopped purchasing disposables and switched to eco detergents and fair trade products, had a water butt installed to sustain the new vegetable patch.  On the evening of Friday February 10th CAFOD will send out 2 assessors to meet us. This will hopefully set our parish up for receiving our Live Simply award in March. Our next meeting is Monday January 30th.  Thanks again for your support.

 Divine Mercy every Wednesday at 4pm in the church.

PRAYER OF ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI: PRAYER FOR PEACE  Lord, make me an instrument of your peace, Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy; O Divine Master, grant that I may seek not so much to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.

Serenity Prayer.  God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time; enjoying one moment at a time;
accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;  taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it;  trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will;  that I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him forever in the next.  Amen.

The Rainbow Colours of Our Lord The scripture Ezekiel 1:28 reads,  Like the appearance of a rainbow in a cloud on a rainy day, so was the appearance of the brightness all around it. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. Every time I see a rainbow, I see the colours of our Lord in all His creation. The Red Rose of Our Lord's Love For Us.  The Orange Fruit of Our Lord's Spirit: Joy, Kindness, Faithfulness, Love, Self Control, Patience, Gentleness, Goodness and Peace.  The Yellow Light Of The Lord That Shines For Us. The Green Grass That Leads Us Towards Spiritual Growth.  The Blue Water of Baptism That Cleanses Us Anew.  The Purple Flowers of Repentance and Forgiveness.  The Calming Scent of Lavendar for Peace on Earth for All Mankind.   Author unknown.
