PETER’S PENCE SECOND COLLECTION TODAY at all Masses.  Each year, a special charitable collection is solicited from Catholics throughout the Church.  Contributions are intended for use by the Pope in his worldwide humanitarian efforts. Victims from natural disasters, wars, diseases and other catastrophic events receive assistance from Peter’s Pence. Economically strapped dioceses and churches, hospitals and Catholic education programs are also among recipients of these funds.

Collectors: Please note the new collection bags. Please remember the BLUE bags are for the 1st Collection and RED ones for the

 2nd Collection.

THE WORLD ON A PLATE. Everyone loves a taste of something delicious, so on Sunday 24th September, after the 11.30 Mass, the Faith in Action group is inviting parishioners to come and share a taste of foods representing the diverse cultures and backgrounds in our community. Please help to make this occasion a success by contributing a traditional dish to share. If you and your family or friends would like to prepare something for this event, please contact the parish office 02085203647 before 1st September 2017.

Lourdes, Summer 2017 – turn your computer on, and enjoy the “virtual pilgrimage.” Video clips of 2-10 minutes capture the flavour of the recent Diocesan pilgrimage, including all the homilies, and interviews with Bishop Alan and Fr Bob Hamill. You can find these via www.bcys.net or search “Virtual Pilgrimage – Lourdes 2017” on YouTube.

World Youth Day, Panama, January 2019. If you will be in year 12, or aged 17-27, in January 2019, then join the BCYS group travelling to Costa Rica and Panama for an encounter with 2 million young people from all over the world, and the Pope. This is truly a “once in a lifetime” experience and an amazing opportunity to discover and celebrate faith in Latin America. The next important stage of the Stewards of the Gospel discernment process is upon us!  On Monday 7th August a document setting out in draft a vision and strategy to take our diocese forward will be published at http://www.dioceseofbrentwood.net/news/.  We will also be getting hard copies of the document to share and read so that we can pray about the contents and discuss them before responding to it.

Reflection: Lord, may I never forget the sacrifice that gives me life.  We are saved by faith, not works, but we live out our faith by loving others and caring for their needs. May we, keep our eyes open for those who might need our help as we walk together in this journey of life.
