WE WOULD LIKE TO SAY A BIG THANK YOU TO FR. VICTOR ADENIYI OLASEENI, who was with us for the last few weeks. He has impressed us with his kindness, sincere and big smile. We wish him all the best and hope that he will visit us again.

SECOND COLLECTION.  There will be a second collection next weekend 7 & 8 of September at all Masses for Catholic Education Service.  The Catholic Education Service (CES) acts on behalf of the Catholic Bishops' Conference to support Catholic education.

PARISH DEFIBRILATOR FUNDRAISING. To this date, donation amounted to £2,528.09. Thank you all for your generosity. The parish is still accepting donation. If you wish to, please collect an envelope in the porch for your donation.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION 2019-2020 PARENTS MEETING. There will be a meeting for the parents of the First Holy Communion candidates at 7pm on Monday 16^th September in the Parish Hall and the books for the programme will also be on sale. First Holy Communion coordinators would like to speak to all teachers and volunteers straight after this meeting. The first lesson for the candidates will be on Sunday 22^nd September.

† PLEASE REMEMBER IN YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS, the happy repose of the soul of Daniel Christopher O'Leary RIP who died recently. Daniel’s funeral Mass will take place here on Thursday 5^th September at 11 am. May he rest in peace.

SVP ANNUAL SERVICE OF REMEMBRANCE is on Sunday 15^th of September at Christ the King.

MARRIAGE IN CHURCH.  Couples thinking of getting married are reminded to register in good time (minimum of 6 months’ notice). Contact the parish office to make an appointment to see Fr. Kevin and he will help you from there.  Couples planning to marry in another parish or even outside the country should realise that the process properly begins here.

BAPTISM. Application forms for infant Baptism are available in the porch.  Please fill in and present to parish secretary during office hours.  It is unwise to organise a reception until the date of the baptism has been approved by Fr. Kevin. It is a Diocesan requirement that you are registered in this parish for at least six months.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED.  Ever wanted to help the refugees in Calais but unsure how?  We run weekend convoys from Brentwood to volunteer with refugee charities there.  Never mind the reasons WHY migrants are in Calais – the fact is they’re there – without resources, hungry, struggling.  We feel strongly that part of our Christian mission is to support them.  Please think about this & volunteer.  Next Trips: 13-15^th Sept, 22 - 24^th Nov & 31 Jan – 2 Feb.  Sign up for a convoy or donate with compassion atwww.calaislight.com.

UNABLE TO MAKE IT TO MASS? The church offers a service called Mass Link.  At 6pm Sunday Mass, via Skype, we call people who want to listen to the Mass and broadcast the Mass to them over their phones. This service is available for anyone who can't make it to Mass if you are ill or housebound.  If you would like this service, please give your number to the Parish Office and we will ring you every Sunday at 6pm to listen in!

LEGION OF MARY meeting is held each Thursday after Mass at 10:15 am.  If anyone is interested in what we do, you are very welcome to attend. For more information, come and meet us in the church.

NOVENA PRAYER OF OUR LADY OF PERPETUAL HELP every Wednesday at 10am.

DIVINE MERCY- every Wednesday at 4pm in the Church.

EL SHADDAI (CATHOLIC CHARISMATIC GROUP). Rosary prayer, praise and worship, preaching the gospel of the Lord, every Saturday, from 1pm – 4pm. All welcome to join.

7 BACK-TO-SCHOOL PRAYERS FOR KIDS by Pablo Diaz.  A new school year is underway, filled with new opportunities, excitement and challenges. There is so much that happens throughout the school year, that without prayer, it’s impossible to get from one day to another. On many occasions I recall my parents saying a prayer before we left the house for school. Once we became parents, my wife Elba and I prayed daily for our children’s well being. Although they are now grown adults, we continue to pray for them.  “Pray without ceasing,” the apostle Paul said. In prayer, we draw ourselves and loved ones closer to God. As our children, youth and young adults return back to school, we pray:
 Prayer of thanksgiving — “Lord, thank you for the energy and joy of our children.”
 Prayer for protection — “Lord, keep a watchful eye on them and keep them safe.”
 Prayer for guidance — “Lord, guide them to make wise decisions and follow sound  advice.”
 Prayer for peace — “Lord, keep our children calm in the midst of a noisy world.”
 Prayer for wisdom — “Lord, give me the wisdom to raise them with love and integrity.”
 Prayer for purpose — “Lord, let your will and purpose be fulfilled in their lives.”
 Prayer for learning — “Lord, may they have an open mind and spirit to grow in knowledge.”As adults, it’s our responsibility to keep our kids in prayer as they begin to navigate throughout this school year. Let’s also pray for their teachers, assistants and administrators who will help guide them upon this path. Lord, we pray as kids return back to school that they will grow in knowledge, expand their curiosity, for their safety and for all who serve them.
