TWENTIETH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

WE WELCOME FR VICTOR ADENIYI OLASEENI TO OUR PARISH. Fr Victor is from Igbara-Odo Ekiti and a priest of the Catholic Diocese of Ekiti, Nigeria. He was ordained on 26.06.2008, worked in some parishes as priest-in-charge and parish priest for about 8 years. He was a bursar and formator at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Major Seminary, Bodija, Ibadan, Nigeria. Fr Victor is currently on post-graduate studies at Pontifical Urban University in Rome, Italy. He will stay with us for month of August. We wish him a happy and relaxing stay.

PARISH DEFIBRILATOR FUNDRAISING. To this date, donation amounted to £2,495.84. Thank you all for your generosity. The parish is still accepting donation. If you wish to, please collect an envelope in the porch for your donation.

MASS LINK URGENTLY NEED YOUR HELP.  Volunteers are needed for Mass Link.  The role of Mass Link is connecting housebound parishioners to listen to 6pm Mass every Sunday.  Training will be provided.  Please contact Parish Office during office hours.

LEGION OF MARY meeting is held each Thursday after Mass at 10:15 am.  If anyone is interested in what we do, you are very welcome to attend. For more information, come and meet us in the church.

DIOCESE OF BRENTWOOD

RESTRUCTURING AND RENEWAL OF OUR DIOCESE.

The current e-bulletin is available on the Diocese’s website htts:www.dioceseofbrentwood.net/departments/development/stewards-of-the-gospel/current-e-bulletin.  Parishioners without access to the internet can obtain a hard copy from the Steward of the Gospel via the Parish Office.

Divine Renovation – Bringing your parish from maintenance to mission has been described as the most effective model of Evangelisation. The members of Pastoral PARISH Council is studying the work of Fr James Mallon in preparation to introduce this model in our Parish. All parishioners are welcome to join us on this journey by reading the book and or watching the videos of Fr James on Youtube.com.

MARRIAGE IN CHURCH.  Couples thinking of getting married are reminded to register in good time (minimum of 6 months’ notice). Contact the parish office to make an appointment to see Fr. Kevin and he will help you from there.  Couples planning to marry in another parish or even outside the country should realise that the process properly begins here.

BAPTISM. Application forms for infant Baptism are available in the porch.  Please fill in and present to parish secretary during office hours.  It is unwise to organise a reception until the date of the baptism has been approved by Fr. Kevin. It is a Diocesan requirement that you are registered in this parish for at least six months.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED.  Ever wanted to help the refugees in Calais but unsure how?  We run weekend convoys from Brentwood to volunteer with refugee charities there.  Never mind the reasons WHY migrants are in Calais – the fact is they’re there – without resources, hungry, struggling.  We feel strongly that part of our Christian mission is to support them.  Please think about this & volunteer.  Next Trips: 13-15th Sept, 22 - 24th Nov & 31 Jan – 2 Feb.  Sign up for a convoy or donate with compassion atwww.calaislight.com.

PARISH MEMBERSHIP. We are aware that some people have left the parish and while others have joined us.  To those newly arrived we say welcome and wish you a peaceful time here.  We hope and pray that your coming to St. Patricks will satisfy your need to have a meaningful relationship with God and help you to meet new friends. Do introduce yourself to Fr. Kevin and register with the Parish Secretary and make sure you are known in case you plan to have a child receive a sacrament or apply for a place in a Catholic school.

PRAYER OF ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI: PRAYER FOR PEACE  Lord, make me an instrument of your peace, Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy; O Divine Master, grant that I may seek not so much to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.

                                 ***********************************************

MY CHILD, I HAVE TOLD YOU NEVER TO DOUBT MY MERCY. Forgiveness pours out from Me because My purposes are essentially forward. My love consigns sin, repented over, to the place where it must never, for a moment, hinder either My purposes, or yours. I see your remorse only as removing temporary barriers between us, and as restoring you. All that I am concerned about is your learning the lessons of failure and inadequate trust, and then looking with Me to the future…all that matters. Your regrets, your bitterness, your self-pity, your disappointment with yourself, must be consigned to the past, rather than allowed to exist in the present. Think, instead, of how tiny is the stretch of time in which life’s imperfections exist; compare that stretch of time with eternity in which you will develop, within My love, the essential you – the soul infinitely precious to Me. I will forgive their wrong-doing and forget it completely. (Jeremiah 31.34)-from the book “I am with you”
