Visit of Bishop Alan Williams. Wednesday last was a wonderful day for the Parish. Our new Bishop Alan came not only to bestow the Sacrament of Confirmation on 18 of our young people but also to make a pastoral visit to the parish. He visited St. Patrick’s Primary where he was very warmly received. He made a big impression on both, staff and pupils by his easy self-deprecating manner. It was the same later when he met people from various groups in the Parish, like St. Vincent de Paul, Legion of Mary, the Counters, Finance Committee and finally the Parish Council. The word humility came up regularly as people spoke of him later. Then in the evening we had a very lovely Confirmation Mass. The impression given by Bishop Alan was of a man who came to be available to his people, to rejoice with those receiving Confirmation and to be of service to support and encourage all. More than a few parishioners talked of him as being a man similar in style to Pope Francis. For all of this we thank God.
